Festbier is a full-bodied Bavarian beer with 5.8% alcohol by volume; it has a richer, maltier, and more intense flavor than a standard Helles. It pairs perfectly with hearty German cuisine.
It is brewed and consumed exclusively during the folk festival season because it is traditionally closely associated with Bavarian festival culture.
